You have found the website for the Garden of England Lodge no. 6583 of Freemasons in Maidstone, Kent. Having discovered us, we hope our website will give you a little journey into Freemasonry with this masonic lodge, what we are all about, our values, and to develop your interest further.
Garden of England Lodge 6583 was established, or consecrated as we call it, in 1947 by group of shopkeepers all known to each other in the busy Maidstone retail community. In those days, it was traditional that shops observed what was known as “early closing day” – normally a Wednesday, and that day of the week became the monthly meeting day, six times a year, for their new lodge. It is not now the case that we are all shopkeepers and have evolved over the years into a very employment diverse membership. We are a small, lively, lodge, supportive of one another, and with members enthusiastic to promote Charity fundraising, for which we have a proud record.
Secondly, we invite you to develop your interest a little further by following our page menus and viewing what lies beneath the name, our activities and some answers to your questions about Freemasonry. We have also included some helpful links for additional sources of information.
Finally, we are hopeful that you might follow up your interest further with this lodge by contacting us though our contact link. We are available for, and recommend, an informal meeting and frank discussion if interest has reached a “what do I do next?” level.
